The City Hall of Schorndorf stands on the historic square in the Old Town – it is the town´s “living room”. It was built in 1730, today it is a listed building.
The redevelopment resulted in a foyer with many uses, e.g. Information for tourists and for special events. Next there are two multifunctional halls: the large plenar hall and also above it an integrated meeting room.

Best described by the arcade windows in the basement, used to be the open hall, where the market was held.
As a result there are complex and different uses. The main concern of the architectural and lighting design concept is not to create and illuminate multi-functional space, that can do everything a little bit, but nothing really. It was about a solemn entrance and a transparency, also to the Chamber. For private meetings discretion should be made accordingly.
An open, transparent and timeless architecture and illumination go this innovative move beyond the merely using efficient LED lighting technology.
