Golden edge

Gummersbach has recently had a long-awaited, prestigious entrance to the city at the train station. Its architectural character is now determined by a golden shining roof body. As part of the planning process, the old, aging station building has now been painted and the bus station will be relocated here. Aluminum bronze shingles.

The light bands create a radiant, almost embedding environment in which the light hotspots create a certain dramaturgy. In addition, the impression is created that the light on the underside of the roof comes from the powerful light of the spotlights, because the light strips in the central axis are arranged so high that it is not possible to see where this light actually comes from. But also the form itself gives something familiar to people – namely, it takes up the broken structure of the mountainous landscape of the surroundings, which ultimately results in the polygonally shaped body.

To create a uniform natural daylight at night. To illuminate an architectural shell as if it were shining itself and to embed the direction of light so that it is not visible to passers-by. To the untrained eye, it appears as if the light is coming from the powerful downlights reflecting off the floor.
